Environment Artist Intern

We have joined forces with a renowned AAA Studio and are currently searching for a highly driven and skilled intern in Environment Art to join our Helsinki team. As an Environment Art Intern, you will collaborate with our experienced art team to design captivating and visually impressive environments for AAA first-person shooter games. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in environment art while receiving guidance and mentorship from seasoned professionals in the industry.

As an Environment Artist Intern, you’ll learn how to:
- Continuously develop your skills and knowledge in 3D art, game development and environment art workflow.
- Learn how to efficiently build environments from block out to release.
- Obtain a greater understanding of modular kits, prop creation, texture workflows, and asset organisation.
- Become an expert in scene assembly and set dressing for AAA shooter games.
- Learn and develop skills that cultivate a robust artistic sensibility that encompasses colour theory, composition, and scale.
- Collaborate with the art team to create visually striking and immersive game environments.
- Work with level designers to implement environments into game levels.
- Maintain a high level of quality and consistency across all environments and assets.
- Follow project guidelines and schedules to meet project deadlines.
Ideal Candidate:
- Degree in Art, Game Design, or a related field
- Passion for video games and a desire to learn and grow in the game development industry.
- A portfolio that reflects skills in Environment Art.
- Creative with a good eye for detail.
- Understanding of 3D modelling, texturing and lighting in game engines.
- Proficient in industry-standard software such as Maya, 3DS Max, ZBrush, Photoshop, or Substance Painter
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to receive and implement feedback from colleagues and mentors.
- Min B2 English proficiency
Bonus points:
- Experience or interest in traditional art
- Understanding of architecture fundamentals
- Basic knowledge of game engines
As part of our selection process, we will send successful candidates an exciting Art Challenge followed by an interview with our recruiter and then the art team. The successful candidate will be offered a paid internship for the duration of 6 months. Upon completion of the internship, the candidate may be considered for a full-time position based on their performance and business needs.
